Q. Who puts Scots Law Times together?
A.
Scots Law Times reports are prepared entirely by W Green's dedicated law reporting team working on screen with the court opinions, which are usually downloaded from the Scottish Courts web site. This combination of legal expertise and technological capability means that fully edited, high quality reports of leading cases can be published often only three or four weeks after the decision is issued.

Q. What is the subscription period?
A.
Scots Law Times is published with 40 issues a year in paper form. It is available on a yearly subscription basis which includes the bound volumes published after the year end. Scots Law Times on CD-ROM is updated monthly and available on a yearly subscription basis.

Q. Can you network the CD?
A.
Yes. Please contact our helpdesk for details and technical requirements. Tel: 020 7393 7266

Q. Where do we get the cases from?
A.
Most cases are first made available via the Scottish Courts web site, or those of the House of Lords and Privy Council. However some decisions of the High Court of Justiciary are issued but not posted to the web site, and the majority of sheriff court cases are sent to us by sheriff clerks or parties' representatives without appearing on the sheriff court section of the Scottish Courts web site.

Q. Who decides what goes into Scots Law Times?
A.
Most cases are categorised as reportable or not reportable by the law reporting team, but a second opinion may be sought from one of a number of practising advocates retained as consultants to assist in selecting the most useful cases to the practitioner.

Q. How does Scots Law Times relate to Westlaw UK?
A.
Scots Law Times reports from 1930 can be found on Westlaw UK, and cases are added each week of publication usually by the time the paper part is published. From autumn 2002 articles from the past five years, and the case commentary feature added in 2001, will be added to the database, and from early 2003 the full archive of reports from 1893 will become available.

Q. How do I submit an article?
A.
Details of how to submit an article can be found from the frontpage of the site. Click here to access.
